Italian Sausage and Bacon Spinach Gnocchi

There’s something incredibly satisfying about a dish that balances simplicity and depth of flavour. This Italian combo achieves this balance beautifully, making it a standout in any culinary repertoire.

As a base you have gnocchi, the beloved Italian potato dumplings. With their soft and tender texture, gnocchi serve as the perfect canvas for the robust flavours of the accompanying ingredients.

Then, the combination of Italian sausage and bacon brings an irresistible savoury depth. The sausage, with its herbs and spices, pairs wonderfully with the crispy, salty bacon. This dynamic duo provides a rich, meaty flavour that is both comforting and indulgent.

Adding fresh spinach not only elevates the dish’s nutritional profile, but also introduces a vibrant and fresh component. The spinach leaves, wilted to perfection, balance the richness of the sausage and bacon, creating a well-rounded taste experience.

The final touch comes from Pecorino Romano cheese, known for its sharp, tangy flavour. As it melts into the gnocchi, it forms a luxurious, creamy sauce that ties all the elements together. This cheese not only enhances the dish with its distinct flavour, but also adds a silky texture that makes every bite a delight.

It’s quick to prepare, taking only minutes from start to finish, yet it delivers flavours that suggest hours of careful cooking. And beyond its taste, the dish is a feast for the eyes. The vibrant green of the spinach contrasts beautifully with the golden-brown sausage and bacon, while the creamy sauce coats the gnocchi in a glossy sheen.
